Face Value 20 Cents | 1984 | Scott 2102

Debuting in 1980 with TV and print ads, McGruff the Crime Dog was featured on this 1984 stamp. Encouraging us to take a bite out of crime, the popular bloodhound was the mascot of a successful social campaign to educate people how to be safe that continues today. In 2008, 9 out of 10 people still recognized McGruff’s character. Interested in more social causes stamps to pair with these for postage? Check out our other vintage stamp listings. You will receive a block of 30-50 of these vintage 20-cent stamps, which can still be used to pay postage on current mail (using additional postage as needed to make up the current first-class rate). All are mint with full gum on reverse; however, due to the age of the stamps, we recommend use of a damp sponge instead of licking the back, or we might recommend using a dab of a permanent glue stick before mailing.

Shipping Info: We ship our stamps, stickers, and other flat items in a sturdy, flat mailer with tracking for the best protection. Because the post office considers this a “package” and not a flexible envelope, the cost of shipping is subject to package prices. This is the best way to protect your purchase.

T-shirts are shipped in poly mailers.
