Face Value 10 Cents | 1975 | Scott 1569-70

Space. The final frontier. Carried out jointly by the United States and the Soviet Union, the Apollo-Soyuz project was the first manned international space mission. The docking of a the US Apollo module with a Soviet Soyuz capsule in July, 1975, was watched by millions around the world. Both the United States and Russia issued stamps commemorating the event, one of the few US stamps also issued jointly by another country up to that time. This stamp was also issued in dramatic oversize format and as a se-tenant, meaning different stamp designs were printed on the same sheet.

Check out our other vintage space stamp listings. A number of stamps were issued by the US Postal Service in the 1960s-70s to commemorate space-related events. With these stamps, your letters will be out of this world!

These stamps can still be used to pay postage on current mail (using additional postage as needed to make up the current first-class rate). All are unused with full gum on reverse; however, due to the age of the stamps, we recommend use of a damp sponge instead of licking the back, or we might recommend using a dab of a permanent glue stick before mailing.

Shipping Info: We ship our stamps, stickers, and other flat items in a sturdy, flat mailer with tracking for the best protection. Because the post office considers this a “package” and not a flexible envelope, the cost of shipping is subject to package prices. This is the best way to protect your purchase.

T-shirts are shipped in poly mailers.
