Face Value 5 Cents | 1967 | Scott 1331, 1332
Space. The final frontier. Launched in 1965, the historic Gemini 4 mission featured the first space walk by an American. James McDivitt and Ed White circled the earth 66 times over four days, and during this trip, White was tethered outside the craft for about 20 minutes, the first time an American had “walked” in space. The craft splashed down on June 7. This stamp was issued in 1967 and was only the second US Postal Service stamp issued "se-tenant" (featuring multiple different designs within the same sheet). A number of stamps were issued by the US Postal Service in the 1960s-70s to commemorate space-related events. With these stamps, your letters will be out of this world! You will receive a Sheet of 20-50 of these vintage 5-cent stamps, all of which can still be used to pay postage on current mail (using additional postage as needed to make up the current first-class rate). All are mint with full gum on reverse; however, due to the age of the stamps, we recommend use of a damp sponge instead of licking the back, or we might recommend using a dab of a permanent glue stick before mailing.
