Born in Alabama, Helen Keller lost her sight and hearing when she was very young after an illness. She communicated using home signs until taught by Anne Sullivan to read and write. Keller ultimately became an author, lecturer, and activist, with Sullivan as her constant companion, and their famous relationship was portrayed in the Oscar-winning 1962 film The Miracle Worker. Keller was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame in 1965. Show your mail recipients your interest in Women’s History Month using this stamp on your outgoing mail.
