Face Value 8 Cents | 1971 | Scott 1436
Send your poetry to your publisher using this vintage 1971 stamp featuring Emily Dickinson. While hardly known and mysteriously reclusive during her life, she has since become one of the most important figures in American poetry. Interestingly, very little of her work was published during her life, and it was not until her sister discovered most of her unpublished writing after Emily’s death that it began to reach a mass audience. Show your mail recipients your interest in Women’s History Month using this stamp on your outgoing mail. Interested in more literature or famous women stamps to pair with these for postage? Check out our other vintage stamp listings. You will receive a block of 30-50 of these vintage 8-cent stamps, which can still be used to pay postage on current mail (using additional postage as needed to make up the current first-class rate). All are unused with full gum on reverse; however, due to the age of the stamps, we recommend use of a damp sponge instead of licking the back, or we might recommend using a dab of a permanent glue stick before mailing.
