Face Value 22 Cents | 1985 | Scott 2153

The 50th anniversary of the Social Security Act was commemorated on this stamp issued by the US Postal Service in 1985. Part of the New Deal and signed by President Roosevelt in 1935, this act created the Social Security program and unemployment insurance.

Interested in more American history or social causes stamps to pair with these for postage? Check out our other vintage stamp listings, all of which can still be used to pay postage on current mail (using additional postage as needed to make up the current first-class rate). All are mint with full gum on reverse; however, due to the age of the stamps, we recommend use of a damp sponge instead of licking the back, or we might recommend using a dab of a permanent glue stick before mailing.

Shipping Info: We ship our stamps, stickers, and other flat items in a sturdy, flat mailer with tracking for the best protection. Because the post office considers this a “package” and not a flexible envelope, the cost of shipping is subject to package prices. This is the best way to protect your purchase.

T-shirts are shipped in poly mailers.
