Face Value 6 Cents | 1969 | Scott 1372

Jazz up your mail and give the recipient a history lesson when they open their letters stamped with these vintage black history stamps. Issued in 1969, this stamp was one of the first issued by the US Postal Service to commemorate the contributions to American history by black Americans. These stamps honor W. C. Handy, composer, musician, and the “Father of the Blues”, who wrote what is considered the first blues song ever published (“Memphis Blues”) and was responsible for popularizing blues music more than it had ever been before. These stamps have a postage value of 6 cents each and can be used to pay postage on current mail. These stamps are unused with full gum on reverse; however, due to the age of the stamps, we might recommend using a dab of a glue stick before mailing. (Marginal markings on the block may vary.)

Shipping Info: We ship our stamps, stickers, and other flat items in a sturdy, flat mailer with tracking for the best protection. Because the post office considers this a “package” and not a flexible envelope, the cost of shipping is subject to package prices. This is the best way to protect your purchase.

T-shirts are shipped in poly mailers.
